We bought all our fabrics, made all our shirts, sent them to a dye house, and they were supposed to come back grey. They all came back mauve. We were pulling out our hair because it’s thousands and thousand of dollars we put in up front to make that stuff. The dye house was very apologetic, but that doesn’t help the situation.
So we did a mauve campaign–and sold most of them. No one needs to know it was a mistake. We didn’t call the stores and say “Sorry guys, we fucked up, can we send you pink shirts?” We were like “Hey, we got these great shirts, it’s a super unique colour, you wanna try them out? And when we sold enough of them to make more shirts, we made them grey, delivered them to the stores, and turned it into an up-sell.
